Alien

The sound design in Alien: Covenant is integral to creating tension and fear, much like its predecessors. The space scenes feature the realistic absence of external sounds, adhering to the vacuum of space where no sound can travel. Inside the ship and on the planet, the soundscape is filled with ambient noises like the hum of the ship’s machinery, environmental sounds, and unsettling, organic noises hinting at the presence of the alien creatures. The creature sounds, including hisses, screeches, and violent attacks, amplify the horror. Composer Jed Kurzel's score further intensifies the atmosphere with haunting, suspenseful music, creating a sense of impending danger and dread. The interplay of silence, eerie ambient sounds, and sharp creature noises enhances the film's suspenseful, claustrophobic experience.
